As citizens of government, consumers of business, and parents and students of schools, your voice can now be heard.

This is your Web site to engage, collaborate and weigh in on the issues of the day.

Read up-to-date news from local media outlets, your blogs and share news stories around the Web (e.g. Click Login/Register and then +Submit a story).

But don't just read the news. Do something about it!

Submit ideas to improve education, business, and public policy.

Let's get started

1. Click Register/Login.

2. Go to http://www.utahsvoice.org.

2. Click Login/Register > Create new account.

3. Input a Username (such as John Doe), your E-mail Address, and then press Create new account.

An email containing a temporary password will be sent to you.

4.Log into the Web site.

Promote an Idea

5. For example, click Government > Legislative Branch > Ideas.

First, you will notice my idea of using 'Utah's Voice' to implement Utah's the vision of the State of Utah's Speaker of the House to gather ideas from Utah citizens.

If you like the idea to use 'Utah's Voice' as a means to gather citizen input, click the 'up-arrow' and see its score go up.

It's not scientific voting, nor is the voting binding of course. But it does only allow one vote per user, and may be helpful in providing a real-time snapshot of voter sentiment.

6. Click + Submit a Story.

7. In Scoop's URL, paste the URL to the news story that gives more detail of the problem (such as a recent news story)

8. In Scoop title, paste a short title.

For example, 'Save Higher Education in Utah'.

9. In Scoop, summarize your idea clearly. For example write,

'Reduce higher education?s budget no more than 11% instead of the proposed 19%. President Stan Albrecht of Utah State said that 19% cuts will result in job loses for professors,
fewer classes offered, program cuts and delayed graduation of students. With the higher proposed budget cuts, USU would stand to lose $30 million dollars and 663 faculty positions.'

10. In Category, choose Legislative Branch.

11. In Tags, write some key words, such as 'Higher Education', 'Budget Cuts', 'Tuition Increase'

12. Click Save.

That's it!

Where else can your idea then show up for everyone in Utah to see!

And remember, content is king. So every time you submit, comment and promote, you are adding value to the site - and improving our state.
